Went back to this puddle and found it teeming with these shrimp-like creatures.

Sculpture update

The back has some new rough spine details
We've started to identify of our good lines and carved away some irregularities. I've also figured out what it is: It's a cross between a sarcophagus for an alien mummy and an old-fashioned stove found during an archaeological dig. Either it's meant to serve both functions, or it's a result of some freak teleportation accident where two objects have fused like in David Cronenberg's The Fly. The pipe that connects to the chimney will go into the back of the 'head'.

Rehabilitating old sculptures

Blurry shot of me holding it for some human scale*

I've started turning this old failed techno-fantasy monster ('helmet') into a more organic abstract shape. I don't think I've ever actually finished a sculpture in this technique.
Update: Here's another old shot of this sculpture with the added bottom section and the beak removed. I did look like an ass with my long hair back then.
*I believe that's John Carpenter's The Thing on the telly
